Our Services

  • Diagnostics and Treatment: We are a self-reliant hospital, able to perform most diagnostic procedures and treatments on site. From obtaining blood and urine samples to performing complex chemotherapy treatments, it's all part of what we do. In the event that a procedure falls outside our normal scope, we do not hesitate to refer to the appropriate specialists so that your pet receives the most effective treatment or diagnosis in a timely fashion.

  • Wellness Plans: American Animal Care Center’s Wellness Plans are affordable, prepaid packages that include a complete array of preventive care services. We have created our own wellness plans, and many include office visits, dental services, and substantial discounts on other veterinary procedures. All of the plans offered through American Animal Care Center carry a low monthly payment designed to help you avoid significant veterinary expenses. Our Plans are designed to save you considerable expense. Proactive care does not simply treat illness, but eliminates problems before they happen. It requires close attention to detail, and encompasses everything you can do right for your pet.

  • Chemotherapy: Patients with cancer should not have to travel for chemotherapy treatment. We perform cancer chemotherapy as needed for our patients, including complex protocols such as the Madison-Wisconsin Lymphoma Protocol.

  • Surgical Services: We have a surgical suite that is apart from the rest of the hospital and only used for sterile surgery, in order to minimize the risk of infection and contamination. We perform a wide range of general soft tissue surgery. We also employ the services of specialists certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgery to perform more complicated orthopedic and other surgeries.

  • Anesthesia and pain management: We utilize a wide variety of anesthetic agents to provide individualized patient care. We recognize that no two animals are identical, and tailor medications for each pet. We believe that this, along with proper monitoring, is essential to a safe anesthetic experience for both patient and owner. We are strong believers in pain management and believe that all pets undergoing painful procedures deserve to have medication to help relieve that pain.

  • Radiology: We have digital radiographs. We have developed techniques that allow us to take high quality radiographs to aid in diagnosis. We have access to a board-certified radiologist who can review and consult on any radiographs taken.

  • Laboratory: We have the capability to perform many laboratory tests, including complete blood count, biochemistry profiles, electrolytes, cytology, urinalysis and fecal analysis on site. We also routinely utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

  • Pharmacy: We maintain an inventory of relevant veterinary drugs and products to meet many of the needs of your pet. We also work closely with two compounding pharmacies to provide medications in a form and flavor that your pet might like. For example, we can have many medications compounded into chewable tablets for cats who are resistant to being "pilled". Some medications are effective as transdermal gels, which are applied to and absorbed through the skin. Our objective is to make medicating your pets as simple as possible while maintaining drug effectiveness.

  • Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and oral surgery. We make extensive use of a veterinarian certified by the American College of Veterinary Dentistry to perform advanced endodontic and surgical procedures, including root canals, crowns, and reconstructive oral and facial surgery after cancer diagnosis.

  • Individualized Flea Control Programs: There are many solutions to flea problems these days, and we recommend preventive measures for all outdoor pets to minimize the risks of flea infestations in the home. We will develop a program for the specific needs of your pet.

  • Dietary Counseling: Pet nutrition is not simple, and there is no "one size fits all" solution to dietary issues. We can help with selection of life stage diets as well as providing prescription diets for such problems as obesity, skin disease and allergies, kidney disease, cancer, liver disease, arthritis, and many others.

  • Emergency / Urgent Pet Care: We handle countless emergencies every year. Many are genuine life-or-death cases: the dog or cat poisoned by rat poison, the pet hit by a car, the pet having an epileptic seizure, those in heart failure or in a diabetic crisis, or the pregnant dog or cat with a puppy or kitten stuck in the birth canal are just a few examples.
